This charming boat, with foredeck and sheltered central deck, has 10 comfortable cabins with twin and double beds, including four on the upper deck with large windows – good for those with difficulty climbing stairs. Lower cabins have a porthole. Salon/dining area has large picture windows. Casual barge atmosphere with good cuisine and crew. The cruise route, on canal only, affords plenty of opportunity for walking or biking along the canal.

The 20 passenger barge LITOTE follows a popular itinerary along the Burgundy Canal, one of the most beloved in France. This incomparable region is world-renowned for its superb cuisine and fine wines. Interesting shore excursions are included and the cruise offers plenty of opportunity for walking or biking along the canal. Bicycles on board for the more energetic. The LITOTE is custom built to pass under the low bridges of the canal on its journey through a land of endlessly-enchanting vistas.
Our tour starts with a two night stopover in Paris where we enjoy a memorable dinner at the legendary La Coupole, a tour of the city’s sights, a cruise on the Seine and a visit to the Eiffel Tower for spectacular views of the city.
All shore excursions, sightseeing, entrances, most meals, wine with meals, porterage & even gratuities are included in the tour price.
The group will be escorted by Louise Pannell, whose experience as a tour director will ensure a carefree and relaxing holiday.

PARIS
On arrival in Paris, you will be met at the airport and transferred to the 4* HOTEL LITTRE, peacefully located on the Left Bank, between Saint-Germain-des-Pres and Montparnasse, where we spend two nights.
This evening, after a welcome drink, we take a short walk to the nearby La Coupole, a former wood and coal store which, in 1927 became the largest brasserie in Paris. The vast bar has welcomed many famous personalities over the years and we will be able to absorb the unique atmosphere of this restaurant while we enjoy our dinner. Wine & mineral water included.

Depart after breakfast on a coach tour to discover Paris, it’s history and famous landmarks, followed by a one hour cruise on the Seine and finally an elevator ride to the 2nd floor of the Eiffel Tower. Afternoon and evening at leisure.

PARIS – DIJON - PLOMBIERES
Morning at leisure to savour the many delights of this magical city.
Early afternoon departure by coach for the port of Dijon, where the LITOTE is moored.
We are welcomed aboard with champagne and introduced to the crew, after which we cruise on the Burgundy Canal to the village of Plombières where we spend the night.

PLOMBIERES - FLEUREY sur OUCHE
After breakfast, we take a drive through the vineyards to the chateau of Clos de Vougeot, a monastic winery dating back to medieval times and the present day headquarters of the Brotherhood of Knights of the Vine. We return to Litote for lunch and cruise through the afternoon to Fleurey sur Ouche. There are several locks with opportunities for walking or cycling along the well maintained towpath.

FLEUREY – GISSEY
This morning we cruise through scenic rural countryside to the village of Pont de Pany. Here we enter one of the most attractive stretches of waterway in France, the valley d’Ouche. The canal follows the river as it meanders through the valley with steep, wooded forests and rich pastures. We moor in the afternoon in the village of Gissey sur Ouche from where we travel by motorcoach to Meursault, where we visit a private cellar and taste several of their prestigious wines.

GISSEY – LA BUSSIERE
Today is market day in Dijon, so after an early breakfast on board, we visit this important city. After a guided visit of the principal monuments there will be plenty of free time to explore the open market and shops, not forgetting the Grey Poupon store in the main street to buy some of the famous Dijon mustard. Return to the Litote for lunch and a delightful afternoon cruise to La Bussiere.

LA BUSSIERE-- PONT D’OUCHE
This morning’s cruise takes us through a pastoral valley to the village of Pont d’Ouche. After lunch, we take an excursion to Beaune, wine capital of Burgundy and a guided visit to the famous 15th century Hospice, with its splendid glazed tile roof, the finest example of Burgundian/Flemish architecture in existence. There will be free time to explore this delightful town.

PONT D’OUCHE-VANDENESSE en AUXOIS
We start cruising after breakfast and as we approach the summit level, increasingly frequent locks offer opportunities for walking and cycling along the towpath. We arrive in Vandenesse and after lunch, take a short drive to visit the chateau of Commarin, dating from the 12th centuruy. This is still a private home with many fine furnishing and works of art. Afterwards, we continue to the medieval village and castle of Chateauneuf en Auxois, once an outpost of the Dukes of Burgundy, from where there are spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. Farewell Gala Dinner on board this evening.

After breakfast, depart by coach for the return journey to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.
There will be a stop en route, with free time for lunch.
